With the online mattress market becoming so crowded these days, everyone is looking to carve out their own niche. With most companies working on mattress construction methods to offer better support, Molecule has gone the other way offering a mattress that is ultra-breathable. To help promote their cause, Molecule Mattress has partnered with the New York Mets, famous athletes such as Russel Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) and top neurologists across the country to help promote the notion that a cooler sleep is critical for rest and recovery.

Molecule Mattress Construction
The mattress cover is match of a stretchy fabric with small grooves running lengthways down the mattress. The cover is designed to wick away moisture, eliminating clamminess. Molecule also claims that the material responds dynamically by adjusting moisture evaporation and cooling levels depending on changes in body temperature though the night. The cover is treated with with Microban®, which keeps the cover resistant to bacteria and odors.
Molecularflo™ Foam Layer
Developed in-house, the Molecularflo™ foam layer utilises open-cell technology for enhanced breathability and superior cooling. The company claim that this foam layer has seven-times the airflow of traditional memory foam.
Recoveryflo™ Ergonomic Foam
The Recoveryflo™ foam layer is designed with unique matrix of hexagon and diamond-shaped channels which allows body heat to dissipate efficiently. The different shapes are also individually cut, meaning that each part of your body is receiving personalised support, which is of particular importance when it comes to making sure your spine is correctly aligned. The patterns also help to eliminate motion transfer.
This layer is a full 7” thick and is also open-cell for enhanced breathability. The foam is denser than the top layers and works well as a base directly underneath the ergonomic foam, providing further support.
Molecule Mattress Comfort
Given their focus on airflow, the mattress is extremely comfortable and will help keep your body at optimum temperatures year-round. The Recoveryflow™ ergonomic foam is particularly impressive with the air-channels, doing a great job of dispersing heat.
Molecule Mattress Support
While the focus of this mattress is air-flow, the mattress is still very supportive. Molecules propriety foam blends are based on memory foam, which means that the mattress still offers adequate pressure-point relief and contouring. The Recoveryflo™ ergonomic foam provides individualized support across the whole body and the Contourflo™ base is firm enough to allow the top layers to perform as intended.
We consider the firmness of the Molecule mattress to land in this range.
- Incredibly breathable
- Dissipates body heat very well
- Recoveryflo™ ergonomic foam is well thought-out and designed
- Optimal pressure point relief and spinal support akin to memory foam
- Lifetime limited warranty
- The jury is out on whether this is more breathable than hybrid mattresses, which have large channels in-between coils that transfer air effectively
- No firmness options
- On the expensive side for an all-foam mattress
- Their reviews are not hosted by a 3rd party authentic agency, so they are not collecting fresh reviews on a regular basis
Credit must be given to Molecule creating an all-foam mattress that features greatly enhanced breathability and body heat dissipation, leading to a cooler, more comfortable sleep. The propriety materials work well together and the Recoveryflo@ ergonomic foam provides decent spinal support. While it’s debateable that this mattress is more breathable than others in the market, it still provides a very comfortable sleep. For more information on the Molecule mattress, click here.
